Therapy (Virtual)
Dr. Cerveny’s orientation to therapy can best be described as an evidence-based approach, meaning that scientifically validated tools and techniques are used, while focusing on clients’ individual characteristics and needs. Therapy and consultation may be accessed for many different types of concerns, such as challenges with anxiety and depression, stress and anger management, sleep and eating problems, obsessive-compulsive tendencies, perfectionism, inflexibility, and executive functioning. In addition, therapy can also be helpful to address behavioural and social challenges associated with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The first session involves a parent intake (particularly for youth under the age of 16) to review consent, background information, and goals of treatment. Following that, depending on family/youth preference and how therapy is progressing, sessions may involve any mix of individual sessions with the youth, joint sessions with the youth and caregiver(s) – for all or part of the session, or parent-only sessions.
The fee for virtual therapy/counselling is $220.00 per hour. Sessions are typically one hour in length; however, session length is flexible as many youth prefer and still benefit from 30 minute virtual sessions (based on age and/or reduced time away from school). Psychologist fees are not covered by OHIP but you may be able to seek reimbursement for some (or all) of the fees through your extended health benefits if psychological services are covered. Receipts are provided for all services and payment is made by e-transfer. Please contact Dr. Cerveny to discuss the specific nature of your health benefit plan and requests for a sliding scale.
