Parent Consultation (Virtual)
Parent consultations are sessions between Dr. Cerveny and parent(s). Sessions are intended to provide strategies to help you with your parenting concerns and provide you with additional relevant information based on your child’s unique needs. Parent consultations begin with a review of relevant background information and provide psychoeducation, support, and focused recommendations or strategies for the family going forward. Parent consultations can be brief (1-3 sessions), or some parents choose to continue with them on an ongoing basis in order to have support in the parenting journey, particularly as they guide and coach their child through various needs or concerns. Finally, sometimes parents choose to begin with parent consultations to better understand the role of therapy or the benefit of social-emotional assessments before having their child participate in services. Typical concerns addressed in parent consultations include: challenges with acquiring academic skills, disruptive or challenging behaviour at home or at school, school refusal, social concerns, helping a child with anxiety/OCD/depression, sleep problems, working with the school to access supports, and supporting a child with a learning disability or mental-health challenges.
The fee for virtual parent consultations is $220.00 per hour. Sessions are typically 60-90 minutes in length. Psychologist fees are not covered by OHIP but you may be able to seek reimbursement for some (or all) of the fees through your extended health benefits if psychological services are covered. Receipts are provided for all services and payment is made by e-transfer. Please contact Dr. Cerveny to discuss the specific nature of your health benefit plan.
