Dr. Paula Cerveny

Dr. Cerveny received her B.A. (Honours) in Psychology from Western University and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Waterloo.

While at UW, she completed practicums at Lutherwood, completing complex psychological assessments with youth, as well as at the Anxiety Treatment and Research Centre at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton, ON, completing mental health assessments and therapy for individuals with Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive disorder.  Dr. Cerveny completed her predoctoral clinical residency at Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, AB, where she completed rotations in Complex Diagnostic Assessment, Child Abuse, Nephrology, Sleep Disorders, and Feeding Clinics.  

After completion of her residency, Dr. Cerveny began her career as a Director of a residential program with preadolescents who had a history of trauma and maltreatment.  She was also completing psychological assessments for students through the Calgary Board of Education and supervising graduate students.  

In 2010, Dr. Cerveny moved back to Ontario.  She worked as a psychological consultant with Upper Grand District School Board for six years, as well as began in private practice.  As of 2016, Dr. Cerveny has been working strictly in private practice, with children and adolescents, as well as continuing to supervise graduate students and psychologists who are completing their supervised practice.  Over the years, Dr. Cerveny has spearheaded several initiatives in the community and within schools to reduce the stigma of mental health.  

Dr. Cerveny works with children and adolescents, as well as provides parent consultation.  Her primary orientation is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), although she draws from other modalities as well.  Dr. Cerveny is passionate about serving youth and their families in the areas of anxiety, OCD, emotion regulation, executive functioning, and coping with learning differences.
